Legendary Lumberjacks Voice Mitch Strohman Retiring After More Than 30 Years | KAFF News Inside Look
Mitch Strohman, longtime television and radio voice of the NAU Lumberjacks, is retiring at the end of the year after over 35 years in Flagstaff.
Strohman, who first began broadcasting NAU Athletic events on local cable in 1991, has been known as “The Voice of The Lumberjacks” for a generation, while also working in various other news and sports capacities and becoming a beloved member of the community.
On January 14th, NAU announced that its NAU TV department would be dissolved and merged with Athletics, and along with that came the surprise announcement that Strohman would be retiring at the end of the year as well.
Strohman recently completed his final home game on March 2 and was celebrated at halftime. He was even late returning to the broadcast before the 2nd half started due to the NAU Football team parading the long-time broadcaster around the court.
We sat down with Strohman in the KAFF News Studios for nearly an hour to go over his illustrious and historic career.
